Senior Engineer (MongoDB & AWS Serverless)

What you will do

• Design and deliver high-quality software across features, services, and systems.
• Build and operate secure, resilient, scalable, and cost-optimised AWS serverless applications.
• Apply clean code, architectural principles, engineering best practices, and the SSDLC.
• Identify and reduce technical debt while improving platform maintainability, reliability, and operability.
• Define test strategies covering security, accessibility, usability, resilience, and non-functional requirements; lead code reviews.
• Mentor engineers, improve team processes and tooling, and contribute to technical direction and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Strong experience with modern software engineering, clean architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native application design.
• Hands-on AWS serverless experience with Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, CloudFormation, and serverless frameworks.
• Deep MongoDB experience including schema design, performance optimisation, and advanced aggregation pipelines, plus knowledge of SQL and other NoSQL databases.
• Experience with large-scale systems, TDD, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, and operational reliability.
• Experience in secure application development, web and API security, threat modelling, and cloud compliance.
• Significant Agile experience and the ability to make architectural decisions, communicate with stakeholders, and mentor engineers.
