Software Engineer II – Backend (Go)

Location: Hybrid in London or within a commutable distance, with office attendance as needed

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and operate scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices.
• Develop reliable, secure, and maintainable production software.
• Build and support distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
• Contribute to technical design and make engineering trade-offs.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and observability.
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• Practical software engineering experience building backend applications or services.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Java, Python, or a comparable backend language.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, asynchronous processing, messaging, retries, fault tolerance, and service-to-service communication.
• Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, or equivalent cloud-native technologies, plus source control, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Permanent right to work in the UK is required; visa sponsorship is not provided.
