Senior Network Security Automation Engineer – API & Firewall Integration (Python/Django, Fortinet, VMware NSX-T): Building automated firewall-management workflows and API connectors with an accent on rule validation, approval, provisioning, and security compliance. Focus on designing rollback and recovery mechanisms, orchestrating Fortinet and NSX-T APIs, and testing reliable network-security automation.
Location: Porto, Portugal; hybrid work model. Candidates must already have the legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do
- Design, build, and optimize Python/Django workflows for firewall rule requests, validation, approvals, and provisioning.
- Develop API connectors for Fortinet FortiManager/FortiOS using JSON-RPC and REST, and for VMware NSX-T using the NSX-T Policy API.
- Implement pre-change validation, conflict detection, failure recovery, and safe rollback mechanisms.
- Create comprehensive unit and integration tests for automation workflows and integrations.
- Ensure generated firewall rules meet security standards and document code and API contracts for NetSecOps handoff.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in software engineering and network security.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, Django, Django REST Framework, Celery, Redis, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Deep expertise with Fortigate/FortiManager, VMware NSX-T architectures, enterprise routing, switching, and micro-segmentation.
- Strong understanding of automation workflows, API orchestration, and security compliance.
- Fluent English and Portuguese are required.
- Existing legal right to work in the European Union is required.
Nice to have
- Certifications in network security or cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code principles.
