Mortgage Representative - Inside Sales

What you will do

• Receive referrals from realtors, builders, branches, and developers, and follow up with prospective customers.
• Explain mortgage products, answer initial questions, pre-qualify customers, and promote M&T mortgage financing.
• Originate residential mortgages, begin applications, enter completed applications, and coordinate settlements.
• Analyze financial and credit information to assess loan risk and negotiate loan terms and conditions.
• Collect closing conditions, order appraisals, coordinate draw schedules, and schedule closings.
• Provide timely feedback to referral sources and keep current with mortgage rules and regulations.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree and at least 2 years of mortgage origination and/or customer service experience.
• Alternatively, 4 years of combined higher education and/or work experience, including at least 2 years of mortgage origination and/or customer service experience.
• Ability to establish and maintain federal registration requirements under the SAFE Act.
• Customer service, sales, organizational, mathematical, and professional communication skills.
• Knowledge of mortgage products and government regulations.

Nice to have

• General PC knowledge and experience with departmental software.
