Head of AI and Data Platform Engineering (Specialty Distribution)

What you will do

• Define the Specialty Distribution data strategy, operating model, architecture standards, governance practices, and execution roadmaps.
• Lead the design, delivery, governance, and operation of scalable data platforms, pipelines, integration services, reporting datasets, and reusable data products.
• Oversee Azure and Databricks-based data engineering, including Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse, SQL, orchestration, data integration, and platform operations.
• Lead the delivery and production scaling of AI solutions, AI agents, automation capabilities, Microsoft Copilot integrations, and intelligent products.
• Partner with executive stakeholders, enterprise architecture, security, infrastructure, software engineering, analytics, and business teams to deliver secure and measurable data and AI capabilities.
• Build and develop a high-performing AI and data engineering organization while driving DevSecOps, cloud, platform reliability, and responsible AI practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, data science, computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, AI, analytics platforms, software engineering, technology leadership, or related roles.
• Experience leading data, AI, engineering, or platform teams at scale, including operating model design, people leadership, delivery accountability, budgets, vendors, and technology roadmaps.
• Strong experience with Azure, Databricks, Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL, Power BI, Denodo, Snowflake, Cosmos DB, Boomi, Azure AI Foundry, Python, and Spark.
• Experience with data modeling, data governance, data orchestration, modern SDLC practices, CI/CD, automated testing, Infrastructure as Code, environment management, and DevSecOps.
• Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant business, data, computer science, information systems, or engineering field.
• Insurance industry experience and knowledge of risk, regulatory, compliance, privacy, and data protection requirements.
• Experience with GDPR, LGPD, Terraform, Bicep, Azure DevOps, Key Vault, automated deployments, or enterprise software development in Java or .NET.
• Experience mentoring teams in engineering excellence, platform reliability, DevSecOps, data engineering standards, and AI enablement.
