Director - Data Platforms & Architecture (Azure/Databricks)

Location: Remote - US

Base salary: $162,800–$244,200 USD per year, plus potential annual discretionary/utilization bonus.

What you will do

• Lead multiple teams and managers while maintaining team health, staffing alignment, development plans, performance standards, and an inclusive engineering culture.
• Lead architecture and technical strategy for enterprise-scale Azure modernization, transformation, AI, platform, and data programs.
• Define Databricks-centered enterprise data platform strategy, including lakehouse, Delta Lake, streaming and batch processing, Unity Catalog governance, and multi-workspace or multi-region deployments.
• Create modernization blueprints, reference architectures, integration contracts, reusable delivery patterns, and architecture governance practices.
• Guide executive and senior stakeholder discussions, discovery, technical trade-offs, delivery planning, risk management, and investment decisions.
• Mentor Senior Architects, Delivery Architects, and senior engineers while contributing to pursuits, reusable assets, innovation programs, and account growth.

Requirements

• 12+ years delivering enterprise-scale solutions in application development, cloud platform engineering, DevOps, data, analytics, or a related domain.
• 7+ years in solution architecture and leading development or engineering teams, including multi-team or multi-workstream programs.
• 10+ years in data platforms, data engineering, or consulting.
• Deep expertise in Databricks, Spark optimization, Delta Lake, workload design, Azure-native data services, and Microsoft technologies.
• Experience leading Azure-based modernization, transformation, AI, or platform programs at enterprise scale, including architecture, automation, observability, quality, and Agile delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred; relevant Azure or comparable architecture certifications are strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, multiple cloud vendors, or data platform offerings.
• Databricks Champion, Databricks Professional, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
