TL;DR
Material Project Manager (Manufacturing): Leading material project teams and implementing procurement, inventory, supplier, and factory material-flow improvements with an accent on change management, lean manufacturing, and production replenishment. Focus on developing supplier capabilities, optimizing inventory and safety stock, implementing Kanban and visual management systems, and deploying RFID, pick-to-light, VGV, and automation technologies.

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; on-site five days per week

Salary: $108,236.66–$151,479.99 annual base salary

What you will do

  • Lead and support material project teams across new product development, value analysis and value engineering, productivity, and materials functional projects.
  • Execute change management and process improvement initiatives from design and scoping through launch.
  • Procure production, inventory, and MRO items; analyze requisitions; and maintain item master, ABC classification, PFEP, inventory, and safety stock data.
  • Develop and onboard suppliers, evaluate supplier performance, resolve quality issues with Quality Assurance, and identify total-cost and cash-flow opportunities.
  • Design material-flow solutions for production areas, including warehouses, supermarkets, tugger routes, Kanban, supplier replenishment, and visual management systems.
  • Implement manufacturing technologies such as RFID, pick-to-light, vision-guided vehicles, and automation; provide training and manage PIV fleet requirements.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or at least 10 years of planner/buyer experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP, production and supplier scheduling, and lean manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of supplier processes and capabilities, Kanban and JIT systems, visual management, and rate-based, flow-line, or job-shop manufacturing.
  • Computer proficiency with ERP and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, leadership, and supplier-influence skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with multiple priorities and minimal supervision.

Nice to have

  • APICS CPIM or equivalent certification.
  • Experience providing direction and training to peers.
