Senior Software Test Engineer

Location: Herndon, Virginia, United States; SCIF presence required at least 3 days per week as program needs dictate.

Salary: $120,000–$160,000–$176,000 annually for the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Other states may have different market-driven ranges.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test plans, cases, and procedures.
• Validate functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and usability of web-based and data-centric applications.
• Perform integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing across distributed environments.
• Verify data integrity and data flow across large-scale analytics and ingestion pipelines.
• Identify, document, track, and verify defects using issue tracking and test management tools.
• Collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, DevOps personnel, product owners, system administrators, and end users while supporting CI/CD activities and Agile ceremonies.

Requirements

• U.S. Person status and U.S. citizenship are mandatory; an active TS/SCI clearance is required, with willingness to obtain a CI Poly.
• At least 14 years of total professional experience in a technical support role, including 5+ years in software testing, quality assurance, or related technical roles.
• Experience testing web applications, APIs, and distributed systems, including performance and security testing methodologies.
• Experience with automated testing tools and scripting languages such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Python, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Agile development, DevOps practices, CI/CD, defect tracking, and test management tools such as Jira or TestRail.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Elasticsearch, AWS, Azure, or Kubernetes.
• Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• ISTQB or another software testing certification.
• Experience in high-availability, mission-critical production environments.
• Military or intelligence analysis experience, military or intelligence community support, or familiarity with IC PED systems.
