Mortgage Originator - Morris, Bergen, Passaic

Location: Paramus, New Jersey, United States of America; the role may require travel to customers' homes or business locations and work outside the office.

Compensation is commission-based with an advance draw; the specific compensation depends on the candidate's knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Interview applicants and analyze income, assets, debts, credit data, and financial objectives.
• Assess creditworthiness and issue pre-qualification statements for eligible borrowers.
• Recommend FHA, VA, conventional, and other mortgage programs suited to customer needs.
• Market mortgage products, cultivate business through Realtors, builders, developers, and community contacts, and promote additional bank products.
• Negotiate loan terms and conditions and maintain customer and community relationships.
• Monitor real estate market trends and ensure compliance with bank procedures, lending regulations, and SAFE Act registration requirements.

Requirements

• Associate degree and 2 years of sales experience, or at least 4 years of combined higher education and relevant work experience including 2 years of sales experience.
• Thorough knowledge of FHA/VA regulations, conventional loan requirements, and real estate law.
• Proven sales ability, strong mathematical skills, and knowledge of personal computers and departmental software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work professionally with people at all income levels.
• Ability to work independently, follow through on details, and perform under critical time constraints.
• Must maintain federal registration requirements under the SAFE Act.
