Sr Advanced Engineering Technician

Location: United States; work may involve shipyard environments, confined spaces, and travel of up to 50%.

Salary: USD $37.83–$40.58 per hour

What you will do

• Support the design, testing, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, and specialized test equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, schematics, wiring documentation, and interface diagrams.
• Construct, modify, debug, troubleshoot, calibrate, test, and adjust tools, equipment, systems, cables, and connectors.
• Conduct, analyze, and document statistically based experiments to define process parameters and identify cause-and-effect relationships.
• Design and build basic tooling and fixtures, implement complex process improvements, and document technical solutions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations Support, and other departments on mission-critical systems.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at hire, or eligibility to obtain it within a reasonable time.
• Associate’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent education and experience, plus relevant technical experience.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience according to the basic qualifications; another qualification section specifies a minimum of 3 years.
• Solid knowledge of fabrication tools, technical theory, hand tools, and electronic test equipment, with the ability to fabricate complex hardware.
• Ability to work collaboratively or independently, including prolonged standing, sitting, or kneeling and lifting equipment up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience installing and testing shipboard equipment, combat systems, and marine-environment cables and connectors.
• Experience loading software from technical documentation and troubleshooting system interfaces.
• Ability to work in shipyard environments and confined spaces.
• Personal tools; preferred but not required.
