Engineering Technician (R&D)

What you will do

• Collaborate with engineers and scientists to fabricate, assemble, integrate, test, troubleshoot, operate, maintain, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems
• Support maintenance, repair, upgrade, and development of fusion machines including Polaris and Tiny Merge
• Install and maintain high-voltage pulsed power, vacuum, fuel delivery, cooling, and support systems
• Fabricate prototypes, custom assemblies, fixtures, tooling, and instrumentation enclosures
• Perform PCB assembly, soldering, wiring harness fabrication, and custom cable builds
• Install, calibrate, and maintain diagnostics, sensors, cameras, and scientific instrumentation

Requirements

• Must have 5+ years of hands-on experience with complex electromechanical or industrial hardware systems
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems
• Experience in R&D, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, semiconductor, or robotics environments
• Strong fabrication and prototyping skills including mechanical assembly and machining
• Proficiency with electrical assembly, wiring harnesses, soldering, and PCB assembly
• Experience using electrical test equipment and reading schematics and technical documentation
• Ability to work safely around high-energy electrical or industrial systems
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Nice to have

• Experience with vacuum systems and instrumentation
• Experience with pulsed power systems and high-energy experimental equipment
• Experience supporting experimental test infrastructure and prototype development
• Background in semiconductor, aerospace, or plasma physics technology development
