Electrical & Computer Engineer (Embedded/Medical Devices) (Embedded Linux/C/C++): Bringing up and integrating prototype peripherals on target platforms for next-generation medical devices with an accent on embedded Linux, ARM SoCs, hardware interfaces, and hardware/firmware debugging. Focus on porting drivers from Raspberry Pi and Arduino, validating I2C, MIPI-CSI, GPIO/PWM, and audio interfaces, and preparing bring-up and testing for manufacturing readiness.

Location: Sunnyvale, United States; on-site availability required 3–5 days per week for lab and bench work

Compensation: $85–$100 USD per hour

Company

hirify.global is a medical technology company developing point-of-care EEG systems for rapid seizure detection and the diagnosis and management of serious neurological conditions.

What you will do

  • Port peripheral prototypes from Raspberry Pi and Arduino to the target platform and analog-front-end MCU.
  • Develop and adapt drivers, device-tree and bus configuration, and peripheral control logic.
  • Bring up and integrate peripherals on target hardware, validating I2C, MIPI-CSI, GPIO/PWM, and audio interfaces.
  • Debug hardware and firmware issues on the bench using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and protocol tools.
  • Author and execute tests covering peripheral functionality, performance, reliability, and corner cases.
  • Support manufacturing transfer, technical documentation, vendor coordination, and communication of risks and trade-offs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on embedded development experience.
  • Strong embedded Linux experience on ARM SoCs, including device tree, kernel and driver configuration, and userspace/kernel debugging.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and experience bringing up peripherals over I2C, MIPI-CSI/camera, GPIO/PWM, and audio interfaces including I2S/ALSA.
  • Ability to work independently through ambiguity and communicate technical status, risks, and trade-offs clearly.
  • Availability to work on-site in Sunnyvale 3–5 days per week.

Nice to have

  • Camera and imaging experience with V4L2, libcamera, ISP tuning, or MIPI-CSI-2.
  • Sensor fusion, closed-loop control, or embedded Linux audio pipeline experience.
  • Verification testing in a regulated environment and familiarity with schematic tools such as Altium.
  • Git and issue or project-tracking tool experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Temporary/contract engagement with compensation that varies based on skills, education, work location, and experience.
  • Performance-based incentive compensation and equity opportunities may be available.
  • Eligible employees receive employer-paid health, life, and long-term disability insurance, plus dependent health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Benefits include a 401(k) with company match, ESPP discount, paid time off, paid holidays, wellness days, parental leave, and a monthly cell phone stipend.
  • Work is performed in a fast-moving environment focused on medical-device development and critical-care technology.
