Site Reliability Engineer (Mainframe/API)

Location: Columbus, Ohio, United States; office-based

Salary: $57,000–$113,000 annual base compensation, plus applicable incentive compensation

What you will do

• Provide production support for mainframe applications, APIs, web services, microservices, middleware, and message-based integrations.
• Troubleshoot incidents, outages, batch failures, API failures, performance issues, authentication problems, and integration defects.
• Support API modernization, including SOAP-to-REST migrations, onboarding, production cutovers, and stabilization.
• Build and improve monitoring, alerting, dashboards, observability, automation, and self-healing capabilities.
• Perform root-cause analysis, problem management, release support, change management, and post-deployment validation.
• Coordinate with Development, Infrastructure, Cloud, Middleware, Vendor, and business teams while maintaining runbooks and operational documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or at least 3 years of related experience.
• Experience supporting z/OS, MVS, CICS, MQ, DB2, COBOL, JCL, and TSO/ISPF.
• Experience with batch scheduling tools such as Zeke, Zena, CA7, or Control-M.
• Hands-on experience supporting REST APIs, SOAP web services, microservices, middleware, API gateways, JSON, and XML.
• Experience troubleshooting authentication, SSL/TLS certificates, performance bottlenecks, and integration failures.
• Must already be authorized to work full-time in the United States; immigration sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Postman, SoapUI, Swagger/OpenAPI, Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Azure Monitor, AppDynamics, or CloudWatch.
• Knowledge of ServiceNow, ITIL incident and change processes, SRE concepts, SLI, SLO, and SLA practices.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM MQ, Kafka, Event Hub, SQL, and database troubleshooting.
• Banking, financial services, core banking, payments, or high-volume production support experience.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience.
