Site Reliability Engineer (Mainframe/API)

Location: Columbus, Ohio, United States; office workplace. Applicants must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: USD 57,000–113,000 annual base compensation, plus eligibility for applicable incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Provide production support for mainframe applications, APIs, web services, microservices, middleware, and message-based integrations.
• Troubleshoot incidents, outages, batch failures, API failures, authentication and SSL/TLS issues, performance bottlenecks, and integration problems.
• Support API modernization initiatives, including SOAP-to-REST migrations, onboarding, production cutovers, testing, and stabilization.
• Build and enhance monitoring, alerting, dashboards, observability, and self-healing capabilities using tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Azure Monitor, AppDynamics, or CloudWatch.
• Drive automation, perform root cause analysis, reduce recurring incidents, and improve availability and operational efficiency.
• Manage customer-impacting incidents, releases, change activities, vendor engagements, documentation, and collaboration across Infrastructure, Cloud, Development, Middleware, and Vendor teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or at least 3 years of related experience.
• Experience supporting mainframe technologies including z/OS, MVS, CICS, MQ, DB2, COBOL, JCL, and TSO/ISPF.
• Experience with batch scheduling tools such as Zeke, Zena, CA7, Control-M, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience supporting REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, microservices, middleware platforms, and API modernization programs.
• Knowledge of JSON, XML, REST, SOAP, API gateways, microservices architecture, API failures, authentication, SSL/TLS certificates, performance, and integrations.
• Current full-time authorization to work in the United States is required; immigration sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Experience with Postman, SoapUI, Swagger/OpenAPI, ServiceNow, ITIL processes, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of SLI, SLO, SLA, reliability engineering, and operational excellence.
• Experience with Kafka, Event Hub, strong SQL, database troubleshooting, banking applications, payments, or consumer banking systems.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience.
