Manager, Interconnect Engineering (Defense)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of interconnect engineers supporting multiple programs, product lines, and customer commitments.
• Plan workload, staffing, and priorities across proposals, new product development, qualification, production support, and sustainment.
• Provide technical direction for cable and harness design, connector selection, shielding and grounding, wire and cable specifications, routing, packaging, and interface definition.
• Ensure designs meet system, electrical, mechanical, environmental, manufacturability, reliability, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Coordinate with systems, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, test, and program teams to resolve interface and execution issues.
• Oversee engineering drawings, models, wiring documentation, parts lists, build instructions, configuration control, root-cause analysis, proposals, and technical risk assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 9 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree and at least 7 years of related experience; 13 years may substitute for a degree.
• Strong experience designing and developing cable, harness, connector, or related interconnect solutions in product development or manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of connector and cable selection, EMI and shielding concepts, grounding, packaging and routing constraints, manufacturing, qualification testing, and supplier coordination.
• Experience with engineering leadership, workload planning, performance evaluation, coaching, and professional development.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD, wiring or harness documentation tools, PLM systems, and configuration-managed documentation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret clearance if required; security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
• Experience with aerospace, defense, ruggedized electronics, or other high-reliability products.
• Knowledge of electronics packaging, open architecture hardware, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
