TL;DR
GPU Software Specialist, Onboard Compute (CUDA): Designing and deploying GPU-accelerated software for orbiting satellites, including Earth-imaging sensor processing, RF signal analysis, and onboard AI/ML inference with an accent on real-time performance and power-constrained embedded execution. Focus on optimizing CUDA kernels and end-to-end GPU pipelines, integrating embedded Linux systems, and verifying flight-ready software through hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California; on-site three days per week. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status, eligibility for access without export authorization, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required authorization.

Salary: $156,000–$186,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

Company

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates low-Earth-orbit satellite constellations that deliver mission-critical Earth-observation data.

What you will do

  • Design and implement GPU compute kernels for onboard image processing, radio signal processing, and machine-learning inference.
  • Architect GPU pipelines that process live optical and radio sensor data and deliver results to downlink or CPU-based decision systems.
  • Port, adapt, and optimize customer algorithms, models, and reference implementations for real-time, power-constrained flight execution.
  • Profile GPU workloads and tune occupancy, kernel launches, memory access, and data movement for real-time deadlines.
  • Own GPU software verification and validation, including unit, system-level, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Define embedded GPU build and CI/CD environments, collaborate on spacecraft interfaces, and document designs, trade studies, and test results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or a related technical field, plus 3+ years of professional GPU software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ or Rust and Python, including memory management, concurrency, and performance-oriented production programming.
  • Production experience with CUDA, OpenCL, HIP, or similar GPU-acceleration technologies.
  • Deep knowledge of GPU architecture, including SIMT execution, memory hierarchies, access patterns, occupancy, and kernel-launch overhead.
  • Experience developing and debugging embedded Linux software on platforms such as Nvidia Jetson or IGX, including cross-compilation and driver interaction.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, with eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice to have

  • GPU-based raw image or radio signal processing, DSP/RF workloads, or ML inference optimization and quantization for edge deployment.
  • High-throughput data movement, Ethernet payload streams, RDMA, and zero-copy buffers.
  • Embedded CI/CD, containerization, and hardware-in-the-loop test automation.
  • Space, aerospace, mission-critical software, or customer-facing applied-engineering experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employees receive equity compensation and medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Benefits include a 401(k) retirement plan, disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, and unlimited sick time.
  • New employees receive three weeks of paid vacation and 12 paid holidays.
  • Commitment to equal employment opportunity, diversity, and reasonable application accommodations.
