Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Playa Vista, California; in-person five days per week. Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 annual salary, plus performance-based bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test flight and ground software for return vehicles.
• Integrate software with avionics and GN&C systems.
• Build tools and infrastructure for vehicle testing, telemetry, and data analysis.
• Debug software during integration, testing, and flight operations.
• Define software requirements with avionics, GN&C, and integration and test teams.
• Support flight readiness reviews and mission operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C++, Python, or similar languages used in flight or embedded software.
• Understanding of version control, testing, and code review.
• Ability to collaborate with avionics, GN&C, and test teams.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time or embedded systems.
• Experience with flight software, GN&C, autonomy systems, or RTOS.
• Background at a launch vehicle, satellite, or spacecraft company.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
