TL;DR
Director, Actuarial Services (Healthcare): Developing and overseeing actuarial models, financial frameworks, reserving, forecasting, and reconciliations for value-based cancer care partnerships with an accent on shared savings, shared risk, and healthcare claims data. Focus on quantifying contract risks and opportunities, modeling financial trade-offs, and translating performance results into strategic guidance for executive and external audiences.
Location: Remote
Salary: $190,000–$210,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do
- Lead the development and reporting of total cost of care savings performance estimates for value-based care partners.
- Lead annual financial reconciliations for value-based contracts and coordinate with internal data teams and partner actuaries.
- Evaluate performance estimates, quantify financial risks and opportunities, and advise Finance on revenue recognition tied to projected shared savings.
- Identify potential underperformance, interpret results, and collaborate with health economics and clinical teams to determine root causes.
- Develop actuarial analyses and financial models to evaluate contract features, risk trade-offs, and the financial impact of clinical and operational activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Actuarial Sciences, Economics, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
- ASA or FSA designation from the Society of Actuaries.
- 8+ years of actuarial experience in healthcare and/or medical economics.
- 2+ years of experience mentoring junior staff members.
- Experience with Medicare Advantage data, including claims, MMR, and MAO-04 data.
- Experience using SQL or another coding language to extract and transform data from large healthcare claims databases, with strong data management practices.
Nice to have
- 3+ years of experience with value-based care arrangements and contracting, including shared savings, shared risk, or global capitation.
- Experience communicating financial and clinical insights to executive audiences or external partners.
- Experience building Excel-based financial models and forecasts for clinical interventions.
- Familiarity with Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Understanding of pharmacy benefits and/or Medicare Part D.
