Systems Administrator (Linux)

Location: Hybrid, with on-site work required in the Chicago, Illinois area; some telework is available.

Salary: $79,000–$110,000 per year

What you will do

• Install, configure, optimize, and maintain existing and new servers.
• Manage RedHat Linux, CentOS, and Windows Server 2016 environments.
• Perform system updates, upgrades, patching, hardening, and vulnerability remediation in accordance with VA-approved standards.
• Implement changes across preproduction and production environments and troubleshoot application, CPU, disk, memory, and performance issues.
• Maintain virtual machines, manage server access, renew SSL certificates, and coordinate vendor support for hardware issues.
• Track changes and completed work in ServiceNow and provide limited after-hours maintenance or troubleshooting support when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field or equivalent work experience.
• At least 3 years of Systems Administrator experience, preferably in a government or large enterprise environment.
• Subject matter expertise with Linux servers and proficiency managing RedHat, CentOS, and Windows Server 2016.
• Strong knowledge of server virtualization, virtual machine management, vulnerability management, patching, and server hardening.
• Experience with SSL certificates and related tools such as Venafi, plus strong server troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to obtain a Tier 4 / High Risk Background Investigation clearance and work on-site in the Chicago area when required.
