Field Technician (Telecommunications)

Location: Vancouver, BC; primary residence required within 60 minutes of the assigned service area/market; travel up to 30% within the assigned region.

What you will do

• Manage network field operations and maintain high network availability across the assigned region.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain network equipment in data centers, POPs, hubs, and customer locations.
• Lead customer circuit turn-ups, testing, and activation across data centers, commercial office buildings, and proprietary facilities.
• Work with AC/DC power systems, power distribution units, rectifiers, and battery backups.
• Support long-haul network deployments, fiber maintenance, and advanced optical transport troubleshooting.
• Direct third-party vendors and contractors, maintain infrastructure documentation, and report on network and customer connectivity work.

Requirements

• Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen status with legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Primary residence within 60 minutes of the assigned service area or market.
• At least 5 years of telecommunications network experience, including direct field experience with DWDM and/or IP networks.
• Hands-on experience operating and interpreting Optical Power Meters/Optical Light Sources, OTDRs, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, and Ethernet/IP test sets.
• Strong knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, fiber optics, CWDM, DWDM, and AC/DC power environments.
• Proven ability to resolve complex optical and transport network issues.
• Proactive communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to motivate peers and drive projects to completion.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% within the assigned region.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience working in data center facilities.
• Direct experience maintaining and repairing outside-plant or inside-plant fiber networks.
• Experience managing field deployment projects, scheduling, or leading task force teams.
