Field Technician (Telecommunications)

Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada. Must be a Canadian Permanent Resident or Citizen authorized to work in Canada and maintain a primary residence within 60 minutes of the assigned service area. Travel up to 30% within the assigned region is required.

What you will do

• Manage network field operations to maintain network health and high availability.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment in data centers, POPs, hubs, and customer locations.
• Lead the testing, turn-up, and activation of new customer circuits.
• Support long-haul network deployments, fiber maintenance, and optical transport troubleshooting.
• Work with AC/DC power systems, including power distribution units, rectifiers, and battery backups.
• Oversee third-party vendors and contractors and maintain network infrastructure and customer connectivity documentation.

Requirements

• Canadian Permanent Resident or Citizen status with legal authorization to work in Canada.
• At least 5 years of telecommunications network experience, including direct field experience with DWDM and/or IP networks.
• Hands-on experience with Optical Power Meters/Optical Light Sources, OTDR, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, and Ethernet/IP test sets.
• Knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, fiber optics, CWDM, DWDM, and AC/DC power environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and project-completion skills.
• Ability to travel up to 30% within the assigned region and maintain a residence within 60 minutes of the service area.

Nice to have

• Hands-on data center operations experience.
• Experience maintaining and repairing outside-plant or inside-plant fiber networks.
• Experience managing field deployment projects, scheduling work, or leading task force teams.
