Senior Mechanical Engineer – Healthcare

Location: Hybrid, Charleston, South Carolina, United States; travel to project sites and client meetings required.

What you will do

• Own complex mechanical engineering projects for healthcare facilities from project start through completion.
• Design HVAC systems, including split systems, packaged heat pumps, chilled-water and hot-water hydronics, steam and condensate, and constant- and variable-volume air distribution.
• Design plumbing systems, including medical gas, hot and cold water, waste and vent, and compressed-air systems, as well as wet- and dry-pipe fire protection systems.
• Assign and manage work for mechanical engineers and consultants, coordinate across disciplines, and mentor junior staff.
• Manage client relationships, project scope, budgets, fee proposals, technical specifications, construction meetings, RFIs, submittals, site observations, and reports.
• Lead quality control and peer reviews, conduct field surveys, evaluate system upgrades, represent the office as a mechanical technical expert, and participate in conferences, project interviews, and marketing events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or an Architectural Engineering degree.
• Professional Engineer registration in South Carolina and other states as required.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work with Revit, Microsoft Office, and an HVAC load analysis program such as HAP or TRACE.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work more than 40 hours per week when needed to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to drive to project sites, perform customary field work, and hold a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work in the United States.
• Ability to process correspondence efficiently, accurately, and confidentially and work independently and in a team environment.
