Director, Platform Engineering (Data Lakehouse)

Location: Remote – U.S.A.

Base salary: $150,000–$200,000 per year, with a possible discretionary incentive program and benefits for full-time employees.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, and data professionals.
• Define enterprise Data Lakehouse platform capabilities based on business and analytics requirements.
• Own platform SLAs, uptime, cost management, reliability, scalability, and quality standards.
• Drive adoption of data engineering, governance, DevOps, and self-service analytics best practices.
• Manage vendor relationships, licensing, and partnerships with AWS, Azure, and GCP providers.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or platform leadership.
• 5+ years in a director or senior leadership role managing large technical teams.
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale data platforms using Databricks, Snowflake, Delta Lake, or Apache Iceberg.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud infrastructure and the modern data stack.
• Experience with data governance frameworks, data mesh, data product thinking, budget management, and P&L ownership.
• Executive communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI/ML platform enablement and MLOps.
• AWS, Azure, or GCP Data Architect certification.
• Databricks Platform Architect certification.
