Engineering Group Manager (High Voltage Hardware)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid attendance required at least three times per week. Domestic and international travel is required, with travel expected to be less than 25%.

What you will do

• Lead the engineering group responsible for design and release of high-voltage distribution and sensing hardware, including battery disconnect units, junction boxes, fuse boxes, headers, and current/voltage sensing components.
• Translate propulsion strategy into technology roadmaps and ensure robust system and component designs.
• Partner with propulsion programs, safety, manufacturing, purchasing, advanced engineering, supply chain, and suppliers to balance performance, quality, timing, and cost.
• Ensure functional, performance, safety, quality, reliability, durability, and serviceability targets are met.
• Recruit, develop, coach, and mentor technical specialists and design release engineers while setting priorities and improving execution efficiency.
• Resolve roadblocks and engineering issues, manage risk, and ensure deliverables are completed on time and with quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• 7+ years of engineering experience across product development from initiation through launch.
• Knowledge of engineering processes, tools, vehicle or propulsion development, propulsion components, and battery systems.
• Experience leading projects and people, including prior design release engineer and people leader experience.
• Strong organization, planning, communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, decision-making, and business skills.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee. GM immigration sponsorship is not available, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1 support.

Nice to have

• Experience designing and developing high-voltage components.
• Knowledge of GD&T, software, calibration, diagnostics, or quality and warranty improvement.
• Experience improving engineering processes, production execution, and First Time Quality of new designs.
• Master’s degree in Engineering Management or Business Administration.
