Engineering Manager, Transformer

Location: Remote within the USA; ideally based in the San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices. Full-time onsite work is expected outside of bi-weekly work-from-home Fridays, with exceptions possible for exceptional candidates outside these hubs.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of transformer engineers.
• Own transformer design and product development projects from concept through production.
• Make engineering decisions covering performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, operations, and commercial teams.
• Lead root-cause investigations, corrective actions, supplier evaluations, and technical reviews.
• Establish engineering standards while managing priorities and project schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 7 years of experience designing and developing distribution transformer products for the North American market.
• At least 3 years of leadership or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of transformer electrical, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing fundamentals.
• Experience taking transformer products from design through production and collaborating cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations.
• Knowledge of IEEE, UL, ANSI, and NEMA transformer standards; willingness to travel as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with dry-type or power transformers.
• Background in quality, manufacturing, supplier quality, or process engineering.
• Experience with grid infrastructure or substation equipment.
• Experience working with international manufacturing partners or foreign language capabilities.
• Advanced engineering degree or MBA.
