Clinical Lab Scientist (Contract)

Location: Onsite in the San Diego, California office. Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

What you will do

• Perform molecular genetic testing on clinical specimens, including specimen handling, processing, analysis, and result documentation.
• Prepare reagents, complete proficiency testing, and follow laboratory standard operating procedures.
• Perform and document quality control activities under the laboratory Quality Assurance Program.
• Identify and troubleshoot basic issues affecting test performance and document corrective actions.
• Support research, validation, training, regulatory inspections, and laboratory safety activities.
• Collaborate with laboratory and management staff in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Requirements

• Active California Department of Public Health Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biology Scientist license required; no exceptions.
• Experience with high-complexity clinical laboratory testing, preferably in molecular diagnostics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented approach, comfort with technology, adaptability, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain continuing education units required by the California and New York State Departments of Health.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements, reach, sit, stand, move around the laboratory, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience with molecular testing methods such as PCR, microarray, Sanger sequencing, or NGS.
