Lead Software Engineer (Go)

Location: Costa Rica; remote workplace

What you will do

• Set technical direction and design standards for distributed, cloud-native systems across multiple engineering teams.
• Own the reliability, performance, security, and scalability of critical production systems built primarily with Go.
• Drive organization-wide practices for CI/CD, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, observability, and operational excellence.
• Lead high-stakes architectural decisions, technical debt strategy, and multi-quarter technical roadmaps.
• Partner with clients and stakeholders on complex integrations, solution design, and proofs of concept.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design documentation, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• 7+ years designing, building, and operating complex distributed software systems at scale.
• Deep expertise in Go, including idiomatic, concurrent, and performant code.
• Expertise with Kubernetes, Terraform or CloudFormation, AWS or GCP managed services, networking, and cloud security.
• Strong distributed-systems architecture experience, including microservices, asynchronous messaging, and data consistency.
• Extensive experience with CI/CD automation and observability stacks such as New Relic, Prometheus, or ELK.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; strong client communication and engineering mentorship skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, model evaluation pipelines, and techniques for improving model quality and reliability.
