TL;DR

Software Engineer (Golang) (IAM and cloud-native backend): Building scalable Golang microservices and APIs for authentication, authorization, and permissions enforcement across Kong Konnect and the Developer Portal with an accent on multi-tenant platforms, AWS, and Kubernetes. Focus on designing highly available distributed systems, implementing secure access-control policies, and optimizing production services under high-volume traffic.

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations include San Francisco, California, and Washington

What you will do

Build and maintain Golang backend microservices powering authentication, authorization, identity management, and permissions enforcement.
Design scalable REST and gRPC APIs for hirify.global Konnect and the Developer Portal.
Deploy and operate highly available services on AWS and Kubernetes.
Implement secure, performant services for high-volume traffic and multi-tenant environments.
Monitor reliability, performance, and security using observability tools; participate in on-call rotation and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with senior engineers, security teams, product managers, and other engineering teams through design reviews, architecture planning, and code reviews.

Requirements

3+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend services and distributed systems.
Strong Golang proficiency and production experience with microservices, API development, and API-first services.
Hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes, including deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
Understanding of distributed systems, high availability, fault tolerance, security best practices, multi-tenancy, and database systems.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, code repositories, collaboration tools, testing, debugging, and system design.
Eagerness to learn identity and access management technologies and work with globally distributed teams.

Nice to have

Experience with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, SAML, RBAC, SSO, identity federation, identity providers, token lifecycle management, and session management.
Experience with API gateways, developer portals, message queues, event streaming, distributed caching, or service mesh technologies.
Knowledge of zero-trust architectures, policy-based access control, Infrastructure as Code, compliance frameworks, and observability tools.
Additional programming experience in Python, Java, or Rust; open-source contributions or security engineering experience.
