Embedded Software/Firmware R&D Engineer I (Medical Devices)

Location: Onsite at the Lafayette, Colorado campus, United States

Salary: $74,400–$111,600 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain embedded software and firmware for vital-sign monitoring platforms.
• Develop software using mixed-signal microcontrollers for oximetry and anesthesia monitoring products.
• Apply software development lifecycle standards, processes, procedures, and tools.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians, customers, and key opinion leaders.
• Learn physiological signal measurement and human physiology to support product design decisions and prioritize tradeoffs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering or science discipline with applicable coursework.
• Ability to work effectively in local and global team environments.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at the time of hire and throughout employment.
• U.S. work authorization sponsorship is not available for roles below the Principal level.
• For bachelor’s degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Nice to have

• Coursework in medical-device development, design controls, FDA and MDR regulations.
• Experience with C/C++ and Python, digital circuit design, or using AI in code and test development.
• Knowledge of systems thinking, safety risk management, SFMEAs, and cybersecurity risk management.
• Knowledge of biology and physiology.
• Strong communication, presentation, prioritization, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
