2027 Engineering Rotational Product Development Program-Welding (Welding Engineering/Manufacturing): Developing welding engineering capabilities through three 12-month rotations across Caterpillar facilities in the United States with an accent on research and development, product development, automation, and supplier quality support. Focus on designing and implementing safe welding and fabrication processes, troubleshooting manufacturing challenges, and building technical expertise through rotational assignments.

Location: Onsite five days a week in the United States; most positions are based in Peoria, Illinois, with limited availability at other U.S. locations. Willingness to travel and relocate domestically is required.

Salary: $89,210–$133,810 per year

What you will do

  • Complete three 12-month rotations in hirify.global facilities across the United States.
  • Support research and development activities related to welding and materials joining.
  • Provide facility welding engineering support and contribute to product development.
  • Help develop and implement welding and fabrication processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Support manufacturing automation and supplier quality activities.
  • Apply troubleshooting, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking to engineering projects.

Requirements

  • ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree or higher in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with a welding emphasis, Metallurgical and/or Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering with a welding emphasis, Welding and Fabrication Technology, or Weld Fabrication Technology Management.
  • Degree must be completed before the start date.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 with no rounding.
  • Prior professional experience must not exceed 12 months, excluding internships.
  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available; relocation to U.S. locations may be available to qualifying candidates.

  • Campus design or competition team involvement.
  • Project or team leadership experience.
  • Technical internship, cooperative education, or relevant practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience or knowledge of welding processes.
