Dealer Commercial Services Closing Officer II

What you will do

• Validate pre-closing due diligence, loan documentation, approved credit terms, collateral, borrowing parties, and regulatory requirements.
• Review and interpret commercial loan documents in accordance with M&T Legal guidance and the Outside Counsel Manual.
• Complete closing checklists and submit them for Senior Closing Officer review and clearance to close.
• Coordinate with approved bank counsel and internal and external partners to finalize documentation, funding, booking, and post-closing reviews.
• Resolve or escalate discrepancies, exception requests, and deviations while managing multiple concurrent and last-minute closing requests.
• Maintain knowledge of closing procedures, regulatory updates, commercial products, risk standards, and internal controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus at least three years of related commercial loan closing, documentation, operations, or administration experience; alternatively, seven years of combined higher education and/or work experience with at least three years of relevant experience.
• Previous experience with the bank’s full closing capabilities.
• Knowledge of commercial closing processes, loan documentation, loan policy, applicable regulations, and related technology.
• Strong attention to detail, interpersonal skills, communication skills, organization, and ability to identify, resolve, or escalate issues.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under time constraints while handling multiple assignments.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with loan approvals, escalation and exception requirements, applicable products, systems, and workflows.
• Paralegal experience or experience in lending operations, underwriting, or customer service.
