Senior Software Engineer - iCloud Messaging Identity Services (Backend)

Salary: $142,300–$214,300 per year

What you will do

• Build identity and discovery backend services powering Messages, FaceTime, and messaging, sharing, and synchronization features.
• Represent the team in cross-functional settings and lead projects within the team’s areas of expertise.
• Partner with Mobile, Web, Design, Security, and Trust & Safety teams to develop messaging products.
• Collaborate with storage, platform, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, highly available web services.
• Drive features through the full software development lifecycle, including exploration, design, implementation, testing, and operations.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience with Java, Go, C#, or similar programming languages.
• Experience building large-scale, highly available cloud services.
• Experience with distributed database systems such as Cassandra.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, independence, motivation, and product ownership.

Nice to have

• Understanding of multithreading, non-blocking I/O, and networking concepts.
• Experience with applied cryptography, including encryption, key exchange, hashing, and certificates.
• Familiarity with identity, authentication, and authorization systems at scale.
