What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise mainframe automation using Broadcom OPS/MVS and IBM System Automation.
• Develop and maintain IPL startup and shutdown automation focused on stability, repeatability, and minimal manual intervention.
• Support GDPS disaster recovery workflows and recovery automation, including Metro, Global, and XRC concepts where applicable.
• Partner with z/OS, middleware, application, scheduling, and infrastructure teams to align automation with operational requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across production, non-production, and staging environments and support critical change windows.
• Create runbooks and standards, participate in Agile planning, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Senior-level mainframe automation expertise with at least 7 years of combined higher education and/or related work experience.
• Hands-on experience with OPS/MVS rule development and tuning, IBM System Automation policy configuration, GDPS automation, and NetView monitoring and integration.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS core components, JES2/JES3, SYSLOG and message handling, WTORs, system sequencing, and IPL procedures.
• Advanced REXX scripting skills and the ability to build supportable automation solutions.
• Experience leading incident and problem resolution in high-availability production environments.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, troubleshooting, leadership, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• 8–12+ years of mainframe experience.
• Watchtower or observability tooling experience.
• Ansible playbook development for mainframe automation.
• OPS/MVS REST API integration and experience modernizing and standardizing automation processes.
• Experience working in Agile delivery models.
