Senior Ground Systems Engineer - Blue Ring (Space Systems)

Base pay range for Washington applicants: $197,529–$276,539.55 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain ground systems supporting space missions and NSS initiatives.
• Capture requirements, define systems architecture, and produce detailed system design specifications with multifunctional teams.
• Develop secure software solutions and support the complete software development lifecycle.
• Perform system-level testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Document configurations and procedures, train operational teams, and provide technical mentorship.
• Coordinate ground systems engineering activities with government agencies, contractors, and external customers.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience with space mission ground systems and NSS software development, standards, and requirements.
• Strong knowledge of security protocols, encryption, data integrity, system integration, testing, and performance tuning.
• Experience defining and managing requirements, preferably with DOORS Next Generation, plus strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or scientific field.
• Programming experience with Python, Java, C++, or similar languages.
• Experience with Agile, DevSecOps, AWS, Azure, spacecraft subsystems, and space communications protocols such as CCSDS, DDS, or GMSEC.
• Familiarity with FHA, FMECA, and FTA safety analysis techniques.
• Experience working with or proposing to U.S. Government research agencies such as NASA, AFRL, or DARPA.
