Lead Software Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Lead the Core team responsible for systems software and operating systems running on robots, including IPC, logging, and APIs.
• Own technical and organizational direction to ensure robust, maintainable, and scalable robot software.
• Drive architecture simplification to improve reliability and development velocity.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, hardware, AI, motion, cloud, product, operations, and service teams.
• Deliver software foundations supporting reliable robot behavior in production, factory, and field environments.
• Coach and grow a highly technical engineering team while contributing hands-on code.

Requirements

• 10+ years experience building complex software systems, including embedded or systems software on physical devices.
• 3+ years experience leading senior engineers or technical teams in a hands-on leadership role.
• Strong expertise in embedded Linux, low-level software, hardware interfaces, and systems programming in C++ or similar.
• Proven track record owning architecture for complex, reliable, scalable, and maintainable products.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Location and work format: Must work onsite in San Carlos, CA.

• Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, industrial or automotive software.
• Experience scaling teams during company growth or product maturity phases.
• Experience with on-device systems and supporting infrastructure in factory, cloud, or field service.
• Familiarity with data pipelines, developer infrastructure, or security in complex technical organizations.
