Senior Engineering Manager (Robotics and Humanoid Research)

What you will do

• Define and execute the robotics AI research roadmap, technical goals, milestones, and performance metrics.
• Lead, recruit, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of research scientists and engineers.
• Guide projects from problem definition and algorithm design through simulation, on-robot testing, and field deployment.
• Ensure research produces robust, scalable, safe systems for physical robots through benchmarking, ablations, reproducibility, and failure analysis.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to integrate research into production systems.
• Manage resources, timelines, priorities, experiment processes, and technical communication across stakeholders.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of impactful research experience in robotics AI, machine learning, or a related domain.
• 4+ years of experience managing research and engineering teams, including hiring, mentorship, performance management, and career development.
• Experience leading multiple complex projects from early research through real-world validation.
• Hands-on experience developing, testing, and deploying AI models on humanoid and/or quadruped robots.
• Ability to work on-site in Boston, Massachusetts.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale field robotics deployments.
• Expertise in reinforcement learning, manipulation, perception, planning, or multi-robot systems.
• Experience with sim-to-real transfer on legged or humanoid platforms.
• Experience deploying AI on embedded or edge systems in resource-constrained environments.
• Robotics or embodied AI publications or impactful open-source contributions.
