Associate Medical Director - Health Services UM & Virtual Support

Location: Remote within the United States. Work from home in a designated area with company-provided equipment and a reliable internet connection of at least 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.

Salary: $90–$125 per hour, part-time.

What you will do

• Make medical management and medical necessity decisions for rehabilitation, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, athletic training, chiropractic, and acupuncture services.
• Support appeals, utilization management reviews, quality assurance, quality improvement, and credentialing activities.
• Provide virtual telehealth medical support for ASH programs.
• Review cases, meet turnaround-time requirements, and support medical directors with backup coverage and special projects.
• Participate in clinical committee meetings and help develop clinical policies and guidelines.
• Apply for and maintain clinical licenses in additional states as requested.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited U.S. medical college and board certified.
• Current, unrestricted U.S. medical or osteopathic license required; ability and willingness to obtain and maintain licenses in additional states is required.
• At least five years of clinical practice experience.
• Experience in musculoskeletal medicine and/or physical therapy, utilization management, medical necessity review, and provider discussions about utilization decisions.
• Experience in clinical quality assurance or quality management.
• Active clinical credentials in good standing, strong computer skills, and the ability to make evidence-based clinical decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience as a medical director for a full-service medical health plan or insurance company.
• Understanding of complementary healthcare.
