Senior Software Engineer, ROR (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Remote within the United States, limited to candidates in the EST or CST time zones; travel of up to 10–25% may be required, including occasional overnight, domestic, or international travel.

What you will do

• Build clean, scalable software that enables users to access and manage in-home care services.
• Design, develop, and maintain reliable Ruby on Rails services.
• Deliver new features while modernizing legacy products and applications.
• Optimize database queries, APIs, and platform performance for scale and availability.
• Contribute to architectural design discussions and improve testing, code quality, and deployment practices.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation to maintain system health.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production-grade Ruby on Rails applications.
• Strong proficiency with MySQL, PostgreSQL, object-oriented programming, software design principles, and Test-Driven Development.
• Experience with AWS services, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based workflows.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work effectively in Agile environments with strong written and verbal communication.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling multi-tenant SaaS platforms and supporting legacy and greenfield development.
• Exposure to GraphQL APIs and domain-driven design.
• Familiarity with Datadog, New Relic, Scout APM, Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, Resque, or Sidekiq.
