Staff Software Engineer I (Pod Architecture Team) - Poland (Ruby)

Location: Remote role open to candidates in Poland; working hours aligned with Central European Time (CET).

Compensation: $8,200–$9,700 per month on a B2B contract, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable solutions for the evolution of the core application architecture.
• Evaluate service extraction, sharding, and pod- or cell-based architecture approaches.
• Partner with engineering teams to understand product domains, dependencies, technical constraints, and business requirements.
• Guide decisions involving scalability, reliability, performance, maintainability, and architectural tradeoffs.
• Develop prototypes, technical patterns, documentation, and implementation approaches for architectural transformation.
• Review code and designs, troubleshoot complex system issues, and mentor engineers across teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with large, complex production applications and monolithic systems undergoing architectural transformation.
• Strong experience with Ruby or Ruby on Rails is highly preferred; Ruby is the primary technology stack and must be learned for the role.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, scalability, reliability, performance, and REST APIs.
• Experience with performance tuning, memory optimization, caching, CDNs, version control, and CI/CD.
• Proven ability to improve team efficiency or output quality through AI tools and automation.
