Buyer/Planner (Medical Devices)

Location: On-site in Pawtucket, Rhode Island; applicants are expected to live within a reasonable commuting distance. The role does not offer relocation.

Salary: $82,000–$95,000 per year.

What you will do

• Review purchase requisitions and place purchase orders for assigned parts, components, assemblies, indirect materials, and services.
• Plan material purchases using demand-planning tools, supplier data, cost, lead time, ECO changes, item complexity, company SOPs, compliance requirements, and standards.
• Maintain inventory and safety-stock targets, purchase orders, material records, and MRP fields to support accurate calculations.
• Forecast future demand with the Demand Planner and publish supplier forecasts to prevent production delays.
• Monitor supplier pricing, quality, delivery commitments, shortages, and production impacts; communicate material-status changes to internal departments.
• Work with suppliers, Commodity Management, Engineering, and SQE on cost reduction, schedule adherence, engineering changes, quality, supplier reviews, audits, and vendor returns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field from an accredited college or university with 2–4 years of Procurement/Supply Chain experience, or 3–6 years of Procurement/Supply Chain experience.
• Proficient knowledge of MRP systems; Oracle is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft tools, including Excel and Word.
• Strong verbal, written, presentation, analytical, follow-up, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, deliver results on time, and maintain professional supplier and colleague relationships.
• Ability to establish and maintain supplier relationships and lead projects.
• Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings.
• Attention to detail and ability to produce error-free work.
• Basic knowledge of supply chain activities and how supply chains link value chains.

Nice to have

• Experience in a manufacturing or regulated environment, including medical, aerospace, or nuclear industries.
• ERP implementation experience.
• APICS CPIM certification.
• Ability to travel to other facilities approximately 10% of the time for meetings, collaboration, or training.
