Software Engineer - Agentic Code Review (Gitar)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; on-site. Three anchor office days are expected on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Candidates must be based in the posted location; relocation support is available.

What you will do

• Design and build program analysis systems covering code intent, control flow, data flow, and behavior across multiple languages and large repositories.
• Combine static analysis, dynamic analysis, and large language models to detect functional bugs, logic errors, and behavioral issues.
• Build AI agents and orchestration layers that review pull requests, generate and validate fixes against CI, diagnose CI failures, and automate pull requests from creation through merge.
• Develop indexing, retrieval, and embedding systems that provide models with relevant codebase, convention, dependency, and intent context.
• Own production qualities including correctness, accuracy, latency, cost, observability, and security in a zero-trust environment.
• Integrate AI-native validation with deterministic hirify.globalQube analysis and work directly with engineering customers.

Requirements

• PhD, MS, or equivalent experience in Computer Science.
• 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, correctness, and performance.
• Hands-on experience with AI and LLM-driven development.
• Exposure to or strong interest in static analysis, dynamic analysis, type systems, intermediate representations, control-flow analysis, data-flow analysis, or symbolic execution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to make trade-offs across correctness, latency, cost, and developer experience.

Nice to have

• Experience building compilers, build systems, IDE tooling, linters, refactoring tools, test infrastructure, or large-scale code transformation systems.
• Experience in industry research labs, large-scale developer infrastructure teams, or widely used open-source compilers, analyzers, or developer tools.
