Reporter, Associate (Tax Policy)

What you will do

• Report daily news and longer-term enterprise stories on the Treasury, IRS, and tax policy.
• Investigate agency and regulatory changes and explain their impact on companies.
• Build sources across government and industry and develop original story ideas.
• Conduct interviews and cover meetings, hearings, and news events accurately under deadline.
• Collaborate with reporters across the newsroom to break and publish major stories.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of journalism experience, including at least one year covering subjects relevant to assigned publications.
• Ability to report and write news stories and features with minimal editing under deadline.
• Experience developing a beat, sources, story ideas, and interviews.
• Knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes.
• Bachelor’s degree; coursework in English or journalism is preferred.
• Excellent proofreading skills, MS Office proficiency, and ability to learn publishing tools and other technology.
