Location: Washington, D.C.; candidates based in Washington, D.C. or New York are strongly preferred, though applicants based elsewhere may be considered.

Salary: $80,417–$105,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Break important news about the conservative movement, MAGA media figures, White House power players, and influential think tanks.
• Write deeply reported news stories and features on issues driving political discussion.
• Build and maintain sources across national politics and the American right.
• Appear on television, radio, podcasts, and social media to promote published work.
• Travel extensively to cover elections.
• Collaborate with the politics team and other newsroom teams.

Requirements

• At least five years of political reporting experience with a proven track record of breaking news.
• Extensive knowledge of American conservatism, its key figures, and the forces shaping the movement.
• Deep sourcing in national politics, strong news judgment, and intellectual curiosity.
• Ability to write cleanly and accurately on deadline.
• A strong portfolio of compelling and important story ideas.
• Use of artificial intelligence or an LLM during the interview process may result in rejection.
