Software Engineer

TL;DR

Software Engineer (Software Development): Building and supporting high-quality applications for an investment platform with an accent on secure coding, automated testing, and maintainable design. Focus on developing new product features, reviewing code, documenting solutions, and solving complex engineering problems within an agile squad.

Location: Hybrid role based in Bristol, UK, with office attendance two days per week. Permanent, full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Employment sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Write, test, review, and maintain high-quality application code in line with corporate, regulatory, and secure coding standards.
• Deliver new product features collaboratively with the product team and wider engineering squad.
• Provide engineering support for existing applications when required.
• Document solutions, maintain clear code comments, and follow agreed team standards.
• Organize personal and squad work, communicate with technical and non-technical colleagues, and support other engineers.
• Develop technical and interpersonal skills while contributing to digital department initiatives.

Requirements

• Broad knowledge of one or more development languages.
• Practical understanding of database design, object-oriented programming, and application design patterns.
• Experience with version control, project tracking tools, automated testing tools, build servers, and the wider software development lifecycle.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in an agile team.
• Clear and concise documentation and planning skills.
• Logical, analytical, and methodical approach to problem solving, including consultation on complex decisions.
