Systems Programmer - IBM z/OS

What you will do

• Install, configure, maintain, and support IBM z/OS and related system software across production and non-production environments.
• Plan and execute z/OS upgrades, migrations, maintenance, and service implementations using SMP/E and change management procedures.
• Lead initiatives covering infrastructure modernization, resiliency, automation, security, performance, and capacity planning.
• Monitor system health and availability, investigate complex incidents using traces, dumps, logs, and diagnostic tools, and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Support Parallel Sysplex, system recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities.
• Collaborate with IBM, software vendors, cybersecurity, architecture, application, storage, and network teams while mentoring less experienced systems programmers.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting IBM z/OS in a large enterprise environment.
• Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting z/OS system software and using SMP/E for software lifecycle management.
• Experience supporting IBM Z hardware and operating system infrastructure.
• At least 6 years of combined higher education and/or related work experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and prioritization skills in a mission-critical production environment.
• Experience leading technical projects, coordinating across technology teams, and mentoring technical staff.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of IBM z/OS systems programming experience.
• Experience with JES2, HCD/HCM, WLM, RMF, USS, TSO/E, SDSF, ISPF, RACF, IBM Z Workload Scheduler, Parallel Sysplex, GDPS, or mainframe automation products.
• Experience with REXX, JCL, CLIST, Ansible, Python, performance monitoring, capacity planning, disaster recovery, or regulated financial services.
• IBM z/OS certifications or related technical training.
