Location: Remote from Canada or the United States.

Salary: $139,200–$235,200 USD base salary for United States residents.

What you will do

• Shape product requirements with product managers, engineers, users, and open-source contributors.
• Design and implement backend and real-time features in the hirify.global monolith, including GraphQL and REST APIs and subscriptions.
• Build portfolio planning capabilities such as work item hierarchy, status rollup, and capacity planning.
• Improve PostgreSQL performance through query and write optimization, indexing, denormalization, partitioning, and workload distribution to Elasticsearch or ClickHouse.
• Develop proofs of concept, automated tests, feature-flagged rollouts, and observability practices.
• Mentor engineers and contributors, participate in on-call rotations, and resolve production issues through root cause analysis.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience leading projects involving several engineers over multiple months.
• Full-stack experience with a current backend focus and strong proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Strong PostgreSQL skills and experience optimizing database performance at scale.
• Experience designing scalable, backward-compatible GraphQL and/or RESTful APIs.
• Experience improving large automated test suites and their performance and reliability.
• Strong written and verbal communication for an asynchronous, distributed environment.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI-powered features or integrating AI into development workflows.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, or Python.
