Staff Software Engineer (Elasticsearch)

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and ship scalable technical solutions across hirify.global services.
• Provide technical leadership through mentorship, pairing, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
• Design and implement APIs integrating software components, relational data, and search indexes.
• Build CI/CD pipelines, testing plans, success metrics, and operational practices for reliable systems.
• Own system health, participate in on-call rotations, investigate incidents, and optimize performance using debugging tools and telemetry.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders on technical, security, compliance, and cost considerations.

Requirements

• 7–9+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent experience depending on education.
• At least 1 year of technical leadership experience.
• 6+ years of experience building, deploying, and maintaining Elasticsearch at scale.
• 6+ years of experience with general-purpose programming languages such as Go, Ruby, or Rust.
• Experience delivering and maintaining production software.
• Ability to design testing, reliability, performance, and maintainability practices for large-scale systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bash, Python, Ruby, React, JavaScript or TypeScript, MySQL, Cosmos DB, and telemetry platforms such as Datadog or Sentry.
• Experience with cloud environments and Cloud Native Computing Foundation concepts.
• Experience with Lucene-based search engines such as OpenSearch or Solr.
• Experience with search relevance, scoring, search experiences, Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible.
