TL;DR
Staff Engineer (Test Hardware Development) (Electronics/FPGA): Designing custom test hardware and architectures for PCBAs and PCCAs used in hard disk drives with an accent on high-speed analog and digital circuits, signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal analysis. Focus on developing FPGA logic, analyzing complex timing, creating hardware patches, and collaborating with software, firmware, quality, and design engineering teams.

What you will do
- Design and develop custom test hardware using commercially available standard components.
- Create new test hardware designs, upgrades, architectures, and methods that meet or exceed product specifications.
- Develop hardware patches for product failure modes and component obsolescence.
- Define software requirements for new hardware in collaboration with software engineers.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Firmware Development, Quality Assurance, and Supplier Quality Engineering teams to improve test effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance to junior team members while working with experienced engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs or masterβs degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in electronics design.
- Experience designing high-speed analog and digital circuits above 5 GHz, including differential ECL/CML logic, RF amplifiers, PLLs, CDRs, serializers, and deserializers.
- Experience with complex timing analysis, signal integrity, power integrity, board power supply, and thermal calculations.
- Experience with FPGA logic design and coding, preferably with Intel Altera devices.
- Fluency with schematic and PCB design tools, preferably Mentor Xpedition, plus strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with C/C++ programming.
- Experience with NI systems and LabVIEW.
