Sr. Principal Process Engineer (Manufacturing Automation)

Location: Onsite in Round Lake, Illinois, United States; less than 10% travel

Salary: $128,000–$176,000 annually, plus potential discretionary bonus

What you will do

• Improve manufacturing process performance, automated equipment reliability, throughput, uptime, and repeatability.
• Support control-system improvements, equipment obsolescence management, data integration, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
• Map process flows and critical control points to support data-driven decision-making.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, statistical tools, FMEA, DFSS, and VOC to remove bottlenecks and reduce operational risk.
• Lead root-cause analysis, NCR/CAPA investigations, corrective and preventive actions, and equipment or process change controls.
• Develop SOPs, protocols, and work instructions; train production teams and provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams, employees, and vendors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to work onsite in Round Lake, Illinois, and must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
• Visa sponsorship and sponsorship transfer are not available.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, safety standards, validation practices, automation platforms, motion control, VFDs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
• Must not be allergic to Penicillin or Cephalosporin.

Nice to have

• Experience with Serialization and SCADA.
• Experience with AI vision and robotics in Industry 4.0 applications.
