SBA Eligibility Review Officer III

Location: Houston, TX; office workplace

Salary: $77,000–$154,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an applicable incentive compensation plan

What you will do

• Review SBA- and USDA-guaranteed business loans to determine proper structure and eligibility before closing.
• Assess borrowers, co-borrowers, and guarantors to ensure the SBA guarantee can be enforced.
• Review use of proceeds, franchise and purchase agreements, business plans, notes, reports, and other eligibility documentation.
• Order SBA numbers, prepare SBA Loan Authorizations and related forms, and ensure compliance with program requirements.
• Research and resolve complex servicing questions, including matters related to loan workouts, liquidation, litigation, and final SBA wrap-up reports.
• Consult with SBA Sales, Operations, underwriting, closing, and commercial loan servicing colleagues; train and mentor newer employees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of HNB SBA/USDA lending or due diligence experience, or at least 7 years of direct SBA/USDA lending or due diligence experience.
• Knowledge of SBA Standard Operating Procedures and SBA/USDA loan programs.
• Ability to document and communicate eligibility conditions, transaction risks, and mitigants clearly and concisely.
• Strong analytical, organizational, multitasking, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and interact professionally with colleagues at all organizational levels.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, AFS, and Velocity.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics.
• Experience with TSoft and SBA E-Tran.
