Default Services Operations Specialist I

Location: Columbus, OH; office-based. Applicants must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States. Immigration sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Monitor foreclosure proceedings handled by designated law firms and third-party vendors, updating bank systems accurately and on time.
• Review foreclosure recommendations, equity positions, loss mitigation opportunities, and risk of loss.
• Prepare and review foreclosure documents, title reports, and title claims.
• Order or recommend property appraisals and inspections, evaluate equity, and prepare bidding instructions for foreclosure sales.
• Ensure vacant properties are secured and maintain accurate records for internal and external audits.
• Handle calls from customers, law firms, and internal departments while maintaining knowledge of collection, foreclosure, bankruptcy, loss mitigation, and mortgage servicing processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• At least 1 year of work experience, including knowledge of foreclosure documents and the court/legal foreclosure process.
• Current full-time work authorization in the United States.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, professional grammar, organization, attention to detail, planning, and follow-up.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, make decisions, and communicate professionally with customers and legal service providers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the internet.

Nice to have

• Paralegal certificate.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree.
• Two years of foreclosure experience or prior default servicing experience.
• Previous experience in a decision-making role.
